Hyattsville Baptist Church Celebrates 75 Years of Faith, Community and Mission

In aquiant setting at Hyattsville Union Sunday School on January 25, 1948, Brother Andy Taylor and eleven visionary charter members sowed the seeds of Hyattsville Baptist Church. With an initial gathering of twenty-three individuals, the church’s inception was marked by a humble collection of $2.85, symbolizing the birth of a community driven by faith and a shared vision for the future.

From its earliest days in the 1940s, the heartbeat of Hyattsville Baptist Church has been worship. “He Lives” echoed through those formative years, a Sunday chorus that served as a reminder of the gospel’s beauty and an avenue for the congregation to proclaim praise to their Savior. Today, HBC remains unwavering in its commitment to the good news of Jesus, both when gathered together and in the daily lives of its members.
